The Window Is Adjar
LYNCHPIX
I had an interesting shoot come up last week with the team at FourFourTwo Magazine. It was to cover an event called the “Wyscout Forum”.
Now after forteen years in the industry, I like to consider myself a pretty knowledgable guy, but this had me completely stumped. I’d never even heard of such an event. Nevertheless, I geared up & headed across to north London’s Emirates Stadium, the home of Arsenal Football Club.

As I quickly found out, the Wyscout forum is an event where all the major football clubs from around the world network with the talent scouts & agents of the industry. In our own domestic leagues, the busy Christmas schedules were quickly approaching & the January transfer window just after that, so the place was a hive of activity with everyone keeping their eyes peeled for the next Lionel Messi.
On paper, it’s not the most photogenic job in the world, it’s essentially lots of guys in suits & ties taking meetings, but there was this great draw of the table layouts. It’s in alphabetical order regardless of country or league so you have these giant franchises sat next to relatively small & obscure teams.
–
As was to be expected, the European Champions & all-round mega wealthy outfit Chelsea had a packed table pretty much throughout the day.
–
Although in every corner of the venue tables were filled & meetings were being taken.
–
At the very back of the venue through a side door were the VIP’s
This is where the big boys were at work.
We had an interview slot scheduled with the Chairman of Base Soccer, one of the largest & most successful agents in the business, but everytime we floated into the “Elite Agencies” suite, they were down to serious business around one of the large boardroom tables.
When we eventually got our slot, my journo asked the question about the dealings we’d witnessed, but he remained tight lipped.
I, for one will be keeping my eyes peeled come January ‘cos i’d bet that big deal’s gonna be a “Big Deal”

ENJOY!
